Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between Open Graph and Twitter Card?

Open Graph is the protocol created by Facebook, picked up by LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Slack, Discord and most platforms. Twitter Card is the X (ex-Twitter) version, which supports Open Graph as fallback but recognizes its own <meta name="twitter:..."> tags first. In practice, set both to cover all cases.

What size for the OG image?

1200×630 px (1.91:1 ratio) is the standard for Facebook, LinkedIn and X in summary_large_image. Target weight: under 1 MB, JPG or PNG format. Avoid images smaller than 600×314 — they get rejected or shown as thumbnails.

Why is my image not showing on LinkedIn?

LinkedIn aggressively caches OG tags. If you changed your image after the first scrape, use the LinkedIn Post Inspector to force a re-scrape. Also verify the image URL is absolute (with https://) and publicly accessible (not behind a cookie or auth).

Should I declare og:image:width and og:image:height?

Yes, strongly recommended. Without these dimensions, some parsers fall back to thumbnail or lazy-load. Two extra lines, worth adding to avoid silent regressions.
